Self Profiling Exercise

For my Management Information Systems class, one of my assignments was to Google myself. The results are as followed:

The first thing that came up in the search was my Friendster account, which I was surprised to even see. I completely forgot that I even had an account that still existed. I’m pretty sure that I put my account on private or even deactivated my account awhile back. For those that don’t know what Friendster is, it is a social networking website just like Facebook.

Next, I came across a press release of my name and picture all included. I was in complete shock because I was unaware that this was going to be posted for the public to see. The article was about thanking the Person-to-Person Scholarship Program, allowing thirty-five young men and women to complete college degree programs (Class of 2009). The Person-to-Person, Inc. is a non-profit agency; it is a volunteer-driven agency that is committed to helping clients achieve self-sufficiency through practical help, advocacy, education and problem-solving initiatives. There programs include Emergency Assistance, Campership, and Scholarship. More information can be found on the web at www.p2pdarien.org.

Lastly, I came across the UPALS (University Pals) Summer 2007 Yearbook. I was a mentor for this program for two summers. The University Pals (UPALS) is a program for seventh grade students (students going to eighth grade in the fall) to obtain a first hand glimpse at college. It is a three week program in which students take college level classes with UCONN professors. The program included 100 students from Stamford and Norwalk Middle Schools. The yearbook was created by the UPAL students who took the Summerbook course. In the yearbook, there’s a section called “Meet our Mentors” which included an individual picture of each mentor and underneath the picture was a quote said by one of the UPAL students of what they thought about their mentor. The quote underneath my picture said “Stacy is a nice and helpful person. She’s always smiling.”
